Crafted by Corelle for their Livingware line, the tableware set endures the tests of time while striking a nostalgic note with its classic red-and-white pattern. With service for four, each setting includes a 10-1/4-inch dinner plate, a 6-3/4-inch bread-and-butter plate, an 18-ounce soup bowl, and an 11-ounce stoneware mug. To construct Livingware tableware, Corelle thermally compresses three layers of glass, producing a vitrelle glass composition that is lighter than other dishware, but more durable than conventional glass. The tableware resists cracks and chips with great success, while the lamination compression process combats stains, scratches, and fading. The user-friendly plates and bowls are dishwasher- and microwave- safe and warm food in conventional ovens up to 350 degrees F. The mugs, however, find safe use in the microwave only. For the best care, avoid soaking stoneware mugs for prolonged periods of time. Corelle discourages the use of abrasives or scouring on these pieces. I decided to replace my recently purchased dinnerware set because they were very heavy and bulky, albeit very nice looking. I decided to try Corelle again after having a bad experience with them many years ago. So far I'm very satisfied with my sets. The only drawback was not realizing that it didn't come with luncheon plates so I had to try and find them- no luck with pattern but purchased winter white plates that go with everything! So far am happy with product, the purchase price and Amazon's handling of my orders.

I bought this set for my grandmother's new apartment. It stacks very compactly in her smallish kitchen and it's lightweight and easy for her to handle. The red stripes give character, and it's a neutral style that pretty much anyone could use. Shipping was quick and the items were well packaged. I wouldn't worry about the reviews from a couple years ago that said that it arrived broken. And this was by far the lowest price I found.
One other thing, if you haven't seen this set in person, the red stripes are bright red.

I love Corelle because cleanup is easy. Nothing will stick to them and they will wipe right off.

Love it - classic Corelle - easy, unbreakable, microwaveable (without superheating!), dishwashable set of dishes in a classic, simple style and pattern. I've used it for a month or two now and I absolutely love it. The dishes I replaced with these, purchased from an upscale home store, were gorgeous but very heavy, too thick fit in the dishwasher well, and while the dishes themselves became too hot to handle out of the microwave - the food itself didn't heat well. These dishes have solved each of those problems, and with young children at home I don't worry about breakage, chips or injury. Highly recommended.
